ACCESSIBLE AND UNIVERSAL CHALLENGES FOR ALL
Pacific Adventure Learning and the UBC Ropes Course is able to
create universal adventure based learning programs designed to fully
integrate people from the entire spectrum of physical and emotional
abilities. Challenges will not be the same for all, but they will
be available to all participants.
Our course was specially designed in partnership with Professor
Don Rogers Ph.D., CTRS, Indiana State University where he coordinates
the Recreation Therapy emphasis and directs the challenge course
program. He is Chair of the Association for Challenge Course Technology
Universal and Accessible Design Committee, and Director of Universal
Facilitation Training for Alpine Towers International, Inc.
Our course and washroom facility is wheelchair accessible. We have
high elements specifically designed for accessibility and our ground
initiatives are easily modified for all ages and abilities. Please
contact Pacific Adventure Learning for more information on our accessible
services.
“One of the best experiences I
have had working at the ropes course would be an accessible day
we had for False Creek residents. It is extremely rewarding and
humbling to watch persons with disabilities experience the ropes
course. The appreciation expressed is genuine and fear and inability
are left at the gate.”
